1. In early October 2014 Alexey Akindinov completed work on a large-scale work "Chernobyl. Last Day of Pripyat "(The Chernobyl accident 26 April 1986). On the creation of the painting from the artist took about two years. The plot is remarkable also that consists of about hundred thousand small ornaments (signs and symbols) written by Alexey Akindinov a brush and oil paints manually.

The history of painting:

Work on the film was launched in January 2013, it was preceded by a period of study of this voluminous material: documentary films, archives, talking to witnesses and relatives of the accident liquidators.

Initially, within six months (January to June), Alex did a detailed pencil sketch for the painting. Many times it changed and specifies the composition, plot details.

Since June 2013, work began on a large canvas (120x180 cm), which was completed on October 9, 2014.

In a picture "Chernobyl. The last day of Pripyat" the tragic events which occurred on April 26, 1986 on the Chernobyl NPP are displayed.

The subject unites in itself three plots, three times:

The central part - the moment of elimination of the begun fire after explosion of the reactor of the fourth power unit (fire-fighting crews and on a distance shot the staff of the CNPP).

The right part (a plot in a circle) - mother at a window with the baby on hands. Evening in Pripyat - behind a window, at the horizon it is possible to see the CNPP some hours prior to explosion. The circular contour of a plot isn't casual, he repeats himself the Big wheel contour (which it is visible behind a window), only instead of booths on it – signs of radiation and the split atom.

The left, lower part of a picture displays events of elimination of consequences of accident of later time – miners at the time of creation of a tunnel, what to reach directly under the damaged reactor, for creation under it the special camera with liquid nitrogen. Subsequently, instead of these refrigeration units, the decision this camera was made to fill in with concrete.

In the foreground - the generalized image of the liquidator of accident, it can be both the military, and health worker, and the ordinary citizen who decided on assistance despite danger of death. The naked torso symbolizes vulnerability, fragility of the human life put on fight against a radioactive flame.

Favourite the artist the ornamental motive of "snowflake", in a plot gets special sense - their contours is associative remind wings of butterflies, and figures of liquidators of accident as if turn in the moths flying towards to nuclear fire. Their hopelessness on death is emphasized also that in this nuclear scorching heat, snowflakes are capable to live only a moment. This transience of moments of life of liquidators, the artist by means of paints tries to prolong in the picture.

The theme of the Chernobyl accident has long worried about the author as an artist and as a citizen. Alexey has set itself the task to fully convey his style “ornamentalism”, scope and risk of nuclear catastrophe. Express it not only due to the composition and the color scheme, but with a combination of signs and symbols, which fill the entire space of the picture and like the fiery flame radioactive, are fused in the plot outline.

Civil position of the painter was to indicate that selfless, unsung heroism of the people of different nationalities, rallied to eliminate the impact of the largest man-made disaster 20th - century, today may be a clear example to follow and counter current disunity and conflict between the peoples of the former USSR.

The illustration of a picture is published in the book "Art of Russia No. 14" (2015), the Moscow publishing house "Creativity." Circulation is 5000 copies, 352 p.
The publication of pictures of Alexey Akindinov of p. 14 - 19 (color illustrations), p. 340 – a curriculum vitae. Author and curator of the project E. P.  Lavrenenko, the Editor-in-chief - A. I. Rozhin (the art critic, the Academician, the Full member of presidium of the Russian academy of Arts, the editor-in-chief of the "Tretyakov gallery" magazine). ISBN 978-5-91340-021-5. The book is an annual album on the fine arts. This release was published at the beginning of the 2015th year and represents modern art directors of Russia. October 22, 2014, Alexey Akindinov first introduced viewers to his painting "Chernobyl. Last Day of Pripyat " by the reported regional art exhibition "Autumn 2014 ". The opening was held at the Exhibition Hall of the Ryazan branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. Ryazan viewers can see the picture until mid-November.
